Deployment Options
Hosted SaaS
Since 2003, myCampus has pioneered and delivered industry's most robust SaaS (Software as a Service) deployment model for Web-based distributed software development. With the myCampus SaaS option, your up-front Information Technology (IT) investment in software development infrastructure, associated hardware, and system administration resources is eliminated. In stark contrast to traditional LAN-based solutions, the myCampus SaaS option will provide you instant access for new team members, upgrades in minutes versus days and weeks, and industry's highest availability for anytime, anywhere access to all project artifacts.
SaaS Delivery Details
Broad Bandwidth and Reliable Access
myCampus has access to a worldwide network backbone. Connectivity to this backbone is via a 100Mbit/sec connection, which can be easily expanded to satisfy customer requirements.
myCampus datacenter partners have nearly 500 peering relationships at its datacenter facilities. These relationships allow myCampus to connect its datacenter network directly to other Internet providers as desired. The third party peer link allows for connectivity redundancy independent of the myCampus datacenter provider. It allows myCampus to work seamlessly around network problems within the provider's fabric, as well as to perform "traffic shaping" to provide customers with the best, fastest and most reliable user experience. The traffic shaping capability allows myCampus to determine the highest-performance Internet routes between the MyCampus environment clusters and the customer's own facilities.
Redundant Architecture
myCampus has designed the datacenter network with optimal redundancy, flexibility, and rapid scalability in mind. While every layer is dependent upon the others to ensure smooth data flow to and from the myCampus environment cluster, the design ensures that no one-component failure can take down the entire network. Each piece of network equipment is fully redundant, with each unit having a sister unit designed for both load-sharing as well as for on-the-fly fail-over for the other. Growth does not obsolete current hardware investments.
Scalable Server Farm
myCampus runs on industry-leading operating systems and servers, offering superior security management and reliability. In addition, each server is hardened, ensuring all unnecessary services and daemons are disabled, eliminating risk of attack via back doors in non-essential services. Within each Internet datacenter, the LAN architecture has been designed to scale at a pace equal to or greater than our client's bandwidth requirements. Using a layer 2/3 switch, the architecture allows rapid scalability in anticipation of customer demand.
Facilities
The datacenter facilities are reinforced against possible earthquake damage, and protected by physical access security, including human security guards, a pass card system, video surveillance, and other security measures. Within the facilities, all equipment is in myCampus 's own secure cages and can be accessed only by myCampus-authorized personnel. myCampus 's space within the datacenter can be quickly reconfigured to accommodate overall growth in myCampus's business or the needs of a particular customer.
The datacenter provides stable temperature and humidity levels for operating computer and network equipment. Advanced detection technology is used to detect smoke and fire at a very early stage, and then triggers a fire suppression system that is designed to protect electrical equipment and to confine fire suppression techniques to only the area affected.
Redundant Power
The datacenter provides multiple Main Points of Entry (MPOEs) for electrical power to provide redundancy in the event of a failure of any one external power source. Within the datacenter, all power is run through a Continuous Power System (CPS) that conditions the power for use within the center and provides two levels of redundancy, one to provide backup in the immediate aftermath of an external power outage, and a second to provide emergency power during an extended outage. The system meets or exceeds the rigorous requirements of power quality standards mandated by the United States Department of Defense and others.
SaaS Delivery Security
Security is provided in the myCampus environment on multiple layers, including the physical, network, host, and application layers. myCampus datacenter partners maintain a 24x7 staff presence, network staff, and security guards at the datacenter. Coupled with physical defenses including bulletproof glass, video cameras, and motion detectors, no portion of the facility is left unmonitored for any length of time.
All myCampus servers are on their own dedicated Ethernet segment to ensure the privacy of data transmitted between servers and are behind a firewall to prevent outside attacks.
Security Layer | Need | myCampus Solutions |
Physical security | Ensures unauthorized personnel cannot access the systems | 24x7 staff presence, including network staff and security guards. Coupled with physical defenses such as bulletproof glass, video surveillance, and motion detectors. Upon entrance, visitors must pass multiple security checkpoints before access is granted. Each myCampus deployment is a separate hardware and software installation housed in its own private cage. This ensures that no myCampus customer has access to any other customer's myCampus environment installation. |
Network security | Prevent access via firewall breaches. | myCampus takes a comprehensive approach to network security, providing barriers both within and outside the network. myCampus 's network design provides for a firewall at the network's edge, network access control, and mini-firewalls within the network to protect individual hosts. myCampus 's security framework provides for partitioning the network and includes specially configured zones for publicly accessible machines, so that security breaches in one portion of the network can be contained to only that portion. |
Private Network Access | Application Level Access | Connect to the myCampus environment hosted service over the public Internet with security provided by application-level encryption (e.g., SSL and SSH) and associated authentication mechanisms |
Virtual Private Network (VPN | Encrypted and authenticated communication. | A VPN provides a secure (encrypted and authenticated) data communications pathway for all communications between your systems and the myCampus datacenter network, using the public Internet to carry the VPN traffic. |
Private leased lines | Network isolation. | If you desire greater network isolation, myCampus can provide a dedicated network connection between your facility and the myCampus datacenter, using private leased data communications circuits. This dedicated connection can include redundant circuits and network equipment as appropriate to meet your requirements for network availability. |
