Account Manager or Sr. Account Manager

Location: Cleveland, Ohio and Gurgaon, India

Reporting To: Director of Account Management

Summary

Serves as the primary business contact for the client and is responsible for client satisfaction.  Expected to consistently provide excellent customer service to accounts, as well as represent client needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality. Build relationships with clients to encourage new and repeat business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on client deliverables and revenue.
  • Reviews all major deliverables (i.e. strategic brief, function spec, tech spec, etc.) to ensure quality standards and client expectations are met
  • Ensures that client issues are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing the Director of Account Management or Executive Director of any problems that may arise.
  • Owns the contract and contract renewals for new work for an existing client.
  • Approves Change Orders and invoices, and is responsible for payment collections.
  • Works closely with the project team in order to maintain a continuous knowledge of project status in order to identify potential issues and/or opportunities within or related to the project.
  • Ensures that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and that projects are profitable.
  • Aware and in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business, involving the Director of Account Management, Sales or Support.
  • Communicates the client's goals and represent the client's interests to the team.
  • Provides regular two-way communication between the client and team, to provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations
  • Understanding of company capabilities and service, and effectively communicates all offerings to the client.
  • Reports to the Director of Account Management, providing regular input on all account activity, including status and call reports on a weekly basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new account management employees.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Proven Account Management skills required in order to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships
  • Minimum 3 years of Account/project management experience
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc)
  • Motivated, goal oriented, persistent and a skilled negotiator
  • High level of initiative and work well in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Work may require international travel to current and potential clients. This requires the possession of a valid passport within 60 days of employment.

Sr. Java Developer/Architect

Location: Cleveland, Ohio/ Gurgaon, India/ Newark, NJ

Reporting To: Director of Open Source Solutions

Status: Full-Time

Summary

Sr. Developer to help lead development within the MyCampus product group. The principle focus of this position is design and implementation of features, tooling, monitoring, and integration code to support our hosted and on-site MyCampus Portal, and Sakai e-Learning offerings. Work includes architecture & design, hands-on development, direct support for customer implementations, and leadership and mentoring of other developers and technical implementation staff. A commitment to proactively solving problems, comfort working without a safety net, and the ability to work in and with existing user communities are key requirements. Experience in open source development or Higher Education is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

Software Design & Development

  • Work with technical & business partners to determine and define appropriate solutions and technologies to meet project requirements.
  • Develop requirements, business & test cases, task-breakdowns, dependencies, and time estimations for development and integration projects.
  • Define system/software architecture and ensure compliance with standards for quality, structure, approach, and technical implementation.
  • Write, test, maintain, and document high-quality code reflecting engineering and security best practices
    implementing product functionality, or integrating with other Campus and 3rd-party systems

  • Develop tooling to support building, patching, deploying, and administering services, onsite and hosted
  • Document solutions, procedures, architecture, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Production Support

  • Handle escalations from operational and front-line support staff, assisting in issue identification and rootcause analysis
  • Fix issue, developing fixes or integrating patches as necessary to move customer issues to resolution
  • Identify variances between developed products and customer desires, for future development

Community Development & Training

  • Mentor and train staff and community members in both technology and implementation processes and procedures
  • Technical and product training for members; audiences may include both technical staff and end-users
  • Actively participate in the open-source communities whose products we support

Additional Responsibilities

Technical and Subject Matter Expertise

  • Stay current with best practices in software development & architecture, deployment, testing, and tooling
  • Develop functional and integration knowledge related to systems common in Higher Education
  • Other duties as assigned.

Sales, Training, Other

  • Participate in sales events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support for new employees.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university
  • 5+ Years prior experience in an analytical or programming environment
  • Strong object-oriented design and architecture skills
  • Experience with development of n-tier web applications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work with minimal direction, supervising others, while multitasking multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Leadership skills, proactive nature and positive attitude

Desired

  • Knowledge of common design patterns and their application
  • Experience in Agile and Traditional software development methodologies
  • Java/J2EE: Spring, Hibernate, JDBC, Servlets, Portlets (JSR-168), Eclipse, ANT, Maven, web services
  • Web Development: (X)HTML, CSS, JS, Browser quirks and testing
  • Tools: Version Control & Branch/Release Management (SVN, CVS, etc.), Continuous Integration, Automated Testing, Performance Testing, Profiling, Debugging
  • Design: User Interface or Interaction design and experience building usable software systems
  • Databases: experience designing, developing, administering, deploying, and testing relational database platforms, esp. Oracle or MySQL
  • Systems Administration: Linux/UNIX experience, scripting, monitoring, configuration management, patching, maintenance, policy, etc.
  • Communities: Participation in open source communities is a plus
